Aromatherapy essential oils have been used for many years due to their calming and relaxing effects. Depending on the plant from which the oil was extracted, different oils have different aromas. The essence of the plant is liquified through a process called distillation.
The most common way to use essential oils is to diffuse them in an ultrasonic diffuser which combines the oils with water and disperses it into the air. It is also common to add these oils to the skin (sometimes this needs to be diluted first), or some of them can be consumed. If you are planning to consume essential oils, make sure you do your research first. An evening or morning shower can also be a great time to add them, giving you a boost or a feeling of relaxation.
